Stories
God is doing great things!
Here are 3 stories from a range of ages in our kids at Croydon Vineyard to share a little taste of what we can see God doing.
We know there are so many more stories from you at home so this month we are doing a little prize draw! We are eager to give away 2 x “Parenting for Faith” which is a brilliant book on discipleship at home.
Fill in any of the boxes with a) stories, b) resources or any c) questions here for a chance to win!
all submissions by the end of May will have their name put in to a prize draw to receive a book. If you have more than one story, or resource to share, please do! The more the merrier.
Tots Story:
One week, our mums’ connect group and a few other mums were hanging out together at the park near one of the mums’ homes. The plan was for us to play at the park for a bit and then head back for tea and cake.
While we were there, one of our bold little 3-year-olds started inviting another pair of mums at the park to come back with us for tea and cake! And they actually came.
They ended up joining us for a really lovely time of connection and fellowship, and towards the end one of the mums shared that she had been praying about starting a mums group in her own church but hadn’t felt confident enough to do it. After experiencing this little gathering, she said she now felt encouraged and full of faith to start one in her own home.
Isn’t it amazing that a fearless invitation from a 3-year-old could help strengthen and build the wider body of Christ? We’re praying that the courage and encouragement she received continues to spread into her own church community too!
Pebbles Story:
A couple of Sundays ago, while chatting together in a circle with our 4- and 5-year-olds, one child mentioned she had a painful rash on her calf. I asked if we could pray for her, and invited any other children who wanted to join in.
Five little ones gathered around, laid hands on her, and prayed a simple prayer for healing. As soon as we finished, another child eagerly asked for prayer for an “owie” on her hand… then another… and another! Even one little boy sitting quietly nearby joined in praying for others so he could receive prayer for his sore toe too.
Before long, the whole group was taking turns praying for one another with such excitement, confidence, and innocent faith. It was such a beautiful moment watching the kids naturally step into praying, caring for each other, and expecting God to move. We even heard that one of the children experienced healing afterwards, let us know if that's you!
Rocks & Geodes Story:
In Rocks & Geodes we’ve been exploring how God speaks to us. We’ve been looking at different ways He spoke throughout the Bible and asking how He might still speak today.
One Sunday, we spent time asking God for pictures and words to encourage the church. Afterwards, the kids came downstairs with their leaders to pray for people and share what they felt God had shown them.
I ended up praying with one of the children for a woman who shared that she was a nurse wanting to work more closely within the community. After praying together, I asked the child if they wanted to show her the picture they had drawn earlier.
When they turned over the paper, they had drawn a hospital shaped like a home with a huge heart around it, and had written that the person would show God’s love to people.
It was such a perfect and specific encouragement for the woman we were praying for. Out of all the children, this was the only picture connected to healthcare or hospitals in any way, and yet it matched exactly with what she had come for prayer about. We were all so encouraged seeing how beautifully God connected the child’s picture with this woman’s need in a way none of us could have planned.
